Introducing “My Father’s Favorite” from Sense & Sensibility
Pat Doyle and I first met in Glasgow’s Citizen Theatre. He was a broken man in ‘Aladdin’, I was rehearsing a little light entertainment called ‘Fear and Miseries of the Third Reich’. But we appeared regularly together in the green room and the bar... where I would go in search of laughs and as Imelda and everybody will tell you, oh, how he can make you laugh. I have since deliberately introduced him to unsuspecting strangers knowing that within two minutes they’ll be bent double naying. It’s part of the secret of his recovery and his success I think his laugh, his amazing family and er, oh, his talent. I have now had quite a lot of my work improved by Mr Doyle, the first time was on ‘Sense and Sensibility’, that film was propelled first by Emma’s brilliant script, but then by the incomparable, but definitely foreign skills of our director Ang Lee. One of my acting notes from the film from Ang -- ”Alan be more subtle.. do more”. Pat himself tells this story…I was on the set keeping on eye on Kate Winslet who was playing the piano, after asking for a moment to give her some help Emma said “Pat why do you keep calling Ang, ‘Ang Lee’, his name’s ‘Ang’”. I had been calling him “Ang Lee” for months I thought he had some other surname, it was like saying “Would you like a coffee Emma Thompson?” Mortified I asked him why he hadn’t said anything, he replied “I thought it was… Scottish tradition”. There is more of the wonderful world of Ang Lee on the sleeve notes for the film’s CD he said “Patrick’s score endeavours to capture…. innocence, satire, longing, melancholy, heartache, romance, joy and loss.” No pressure. At all events, whenever people ask about the film they invariably say where did they find that beautiful music? There jaws drop when I tell them that it all came from the head and heart of Patrick Doyle. Pat él mismo cuenta esta historia: Yo estaba en el set echando un ojo a Kate Winslet, que estaba tocando el piano, después de pedir un momento para darle algo de ayuda, Emma dijo: "Pat, ¿por qué sigues llamandole Ang Ang Lee - Ang es su nombre. Yo le había estado llamando durante meses Ang Lee pensé Había algún otro apellido, es como decir "¿Te apetece un café, Emma Thompson?" Manchester International Festival
The ground beneath his feet
Described as the greatest rock and roll novel, Rushdie's mythological story of celebrity and love has been transformed into a full-length concert piece.
The Ground Beneath Her Feet
Performed by the Hallé orchestra and directed by Mike Figgis, the production will be narrated by Rickman, who started his own acting career at the Library Theatre in Manchester.
He spoke to Natalie Anglesey, from BBC Radio Manchester's The Show Show, about the performance and what's in store for him in the future.

Alan Rickman estuvo presente el pasado 29 de Junio del 2007 en el Festival Internacional
de Manchester.
Colaboró en la obra basada en el libro del mismo título.
Se celebro en el teatro.
Fue una especie de obra musical. Constaba de una orquesta magnifica, dos cantantes y el narrador (Alan Rickman)
A mi personalmente me pareció fabulosa. Todo un deleite para los oidos y la vista, sobre todo
si te gusta este actor.
